Localisation:

5 cun proximal to LI5, on the connecting line between LI5 and LI11

• the distance between the wrist (LI5) and the elbow (LI11) is 12 cun

Category of Points:

• Accumulation point (Xi Xue)

Functions:

• clears Heat and detoxifies poison
• moderates acute conditions
• regulates and harmonises the stomach and bowels (intestine)
• clears Yang Ming- Fire and calms the spirit

Indication:

• headache, redness, swelling and pain of the face, carbuncles, toothache, mouth pain, sore throat and loss of voice
• stomach ache, borborygmus, abdominal distention, vomiting of watery saliva and foam
• discomfort, restricted movement and pain of the shoulder and arm
• febrile illnesses with emotional disharmonies

Remarks:

• as LI5, LI8 and LI11 it is used for Yang Ming- Heat that leads to emotional disharmonies
• for stiff neck due to external cold LI7 may be used in conjunction with LV14
