JIANJU [Kengu, Shoulder Bone]

Localisation:

in a depression in front of and below the shoulder joint between the anterior and mid part of the deltoid muscle

• in the area of the insertion of the deltoid muscle
• with the arm stretched horizontally to the side in the anterior recess of the shoulder joint

Functions:

• activates the Meridian and alleviates pain
• regulates Qi and dissipates phlegm nodules
• benefits the joints
• benefits the eyes

Indication:

• discomfort, restricted movement and pain in the upper arm and shoulder, joint pain, hemiplegia
• pain in the chest, goitre, scrofula
• head injuries, stroke, hypertension, itching skin, rash

Remarks:

• acts on the brain
• for atrophy and hemiplegia LI15 may be used in conjunction with LI4 and LI11
• treats the arm similarly as ST31 treats the leg
• for hemiplegia due to a stroke LI15 may be used in conjunction with: GB39, KD3, ST38 and BL60.
